Things are a bit busy on the homefront so our continuing series of things near our condo will continue this week. Our goal with these notes is to give our guests other options besides the favorites of Storyland, Santa's village and North Conway. Check back this week for more.
Mount Attitash is a great mountain to ski in the winter but that is not where it ends because in the summer, there are plenty of things to do at the mountain. Featured most prominently at the mountain in the summer is the "Mountain Coaster." In addition there is an alpine slide, water slide, horseback riding, mountain biking, the Buddy Bear playpool and many other things to do. You can read more about the resort at attitash.com/summer. Finally, the drive to the base of Attitash is 3-5 minutes from our condo.
Continuing our "things to do near our condo" series, today's post focuses on Six Gun City, located in Jefferson, NH. It is an amusement park featuring such rides as the "Tumbleweek Speadway Go Karts, The Gold Rush Express Runaway Train Roller coaster and The Prospectors Plunge Water Coaster. On Tripadvisor, it has an average rating of 3.5 out of 5. In terms of the reviews, some say it is a good value while others say it is outdated. It is considered a very casual low key kind of place. Located about 5 minutes from our condo down West Side Road, Diana's bath is a great attraction for people looking for a small hike and beautiful views. It is located along Lucy brook which gets its water from Mount Attitash. For the winter, some have snowshoed the small 6/10ths of a like hike to the falls. During the summer, many visit the "great place for children and grown-ups alike to enjoy the tranquility of nature, and explore the many rocks, ledges, cascading falls and pools in the brook. The cascading falls measure Aprox. 75 feet in total height." (Northconwaynh.com).
The baths are located at 3405 West side road. On Tripadvisor, the average rating is 4.5 our of 5. Some of the recent comments include "great hike," "beautiful fall site" and "a favorite attraction in the white mountains."
In our latest installment of things to do near our condo in Bartlett, NH, today we focus on the Cog Railway. As the website states at thecog.com, "nearly 150 years later, the mount Washington cog railway continues to provide a sense of adventure and history as it carries passengers up a 3 mile long trestle and the steepest rail road tracks in North America" to the summit of Mount Washington. The base station is located about 35 minutes from the condo, 6 miles away from Bretton woods up 302. They offer 3 hour round trips and kids 3 and under are free.
On Tripadvisor.com, out of 236 reviews, the average rating is 4 (out of 5). Most of the reviews say the views are unbelievable but the "price is steep." A few other noteworthy comments: "be sure to bundle up," "on crummy day visibility is low so don't bother" and "the ride is full of facts and humor." With the summer fast approaching, we will begin posting about different things to do within a reasonable driving distance to the condo. Today's, the Great Glen Trails. During the winter, their outdoor center at Pinkham Notch, features cross country skiing, snow tubing, snowshoeing and many other things to do. As we tweeted yesterday, Wildcat mountain, plans on staying open through next weekend, 4/14. I skied Wildcat last week and the conditions were unbelievable. More snow has fallen the last few days further extending things. We have the weekend open so if you are looking to ski wildcat, we are an option for you.
