We are at the condo this week for our annual vacation that takes place the last week of August each year. One of the things I like to do when we are here is take a look for things that need updating and how we can improve the place for the better. Over the past year, some things have begun to break down so this week, we begin repairs on various items. Among those items: new screen door for the deck, new thermometer for the inside/outside, new coffee maker and hopefully new chairs for the decks!
In addition to repairs, there is also the checkup on the electronics in the unit. One of these electronics is an PlayStation 2! Yes, you read that correctly. Our place features an PS2! Now, I have no idea what PlayStation is in production now but I can say the games I have here in the condo are largely from 1999 to 2003. My best of the bunch - Madden 2002. The baseball game is not so great, NHL 2003 is too easy and I could never get into the 007 game but Madden is still cool throwing a deep pass to Troy Brown or underneath to Christian Fauria. What is most interesting is that the games from 2001 and before are not showing up well on the big HDTV but after that, the picture is more clear - I have no idea why? Thoughts?
In any event, clicking the X's, squares, R1 and R2 brought back memories of times pre iPhone. Amazingly, the Madden game of today that I can put on my phone is more complex than the PS2 game I played today up here. Think about that - 10 years ago, complex was a black box that gave great graphics. Today, something a fraction of the size with 1000s of times of power provides more enjoyment with several levels more of sophistication!
But the PS2 is much like our condo in some respects, more so than the iPhone. Yes, we have new electronics and plenty of amenities but staying up here is about what is not complex and is simple. When you come up here it is about family, friends and Storyland! Ok, perhaps that last part could including skiing or just nature but I think get the point. If you have kids and you know Sofia the first, one episode spoke of the simple life - well, up here complex goes away and simple steps forward.
Simple states, Our goal is to provide a place for you to stay so you can take in all what the Mount Washington Valley has to offer (plenty of ideas on our blog by the way). That includes hopefully some relaxation (I am sitting on a deck right now staring at a small mountain drinking my morning coffee...peaceful) and enjoyment of what there is around is. In between, perhaps you will take in a game of Madden 2002 or Scooby Doo while you are up here!
