Voyaged to the Margarita Grille last night and encountered a huge amount of people there at 515pm - some of it the Storyland crowd but a heavy contingent of people at the bar without kids. Wait time was manageable at 15 minutes but once we got in the wait times skyrocketed! We sat down and weren't served for 20 minutes! Thankfully someone from our party grabbed one of the servers and we were finally able to order. Oh, did I mention we had four kids with us?
So we then waited another 30 minutes before the apps came out and they messed those up as well. They were quick to fix the problem and you got the feeling that they realized they were messing up our stay based on the number of people helping us. Anyhow, food came out about 10 minutes after that and we were finally able to eat.
Now, it is a shame we had to wait such a long time because the food is very good. The salad I had was good (Caesar) and the kids liked the Mac & Cheese, Taco, and hamburger. The quesadilla my daughter ordered had way to much cheese but she managed. The fajitas the others had in our party were huge and I heard good. The drinks weren't bad (I had a "pain killer" which was about average as margaritas go).
The deserts for the kids however were anything but average! They were all bigger than the meals the kids received! My son who is a big desert eater (what kid isn't u suppose) could not finish the cupcake and ice cream offering. The brownie sundae was huge as well. The frosting on the cupcake was not that good but the rest was very good.
So why based on this, why only a 3? Well the service was brutal but the food was solid. The place is small in terms of tables so the wait time is almost expected anytime you go here but the mistakes made by the staff before our food, led to the 3 in my opinion. Also a few years back, when I did takeout from this place, the staff eras rude then to me so perhaps if you ignore the service and focus on the food, you will be happy? That would be my focus going forward because the food is darn good!
As part of my trip up north this past weekend, we ventured to the Margarita Grille, which is about 3-5 minutes from our house (about he same distance as Attitash is from our location just going the other way). We tend to avoid this place based on the fact that it is small and always packed - big place for the Storyland Crowd as well as the ski crowd which does not want to venture all the way into Conway following skiing at Attitash (or even Bretton Woods and Wildcat). We went with another family on Saturday night with four kids in tow. Here is the review we posted to Yelp
